The Moldovan flag consists of three vertical stripes in blue, yellow and red with the coat of arms of Moldova in the middle. With the national anthem "Limba Noastra" (Our Language), the country's motto "Our Language is a Treasure", the Moldovan flag is one of the emblems of the Republic of Moldova, an Eastern European country. This Eastern European country shares borders with Romania and Ukraine

This three-coloured blue, yellow and rectangular red flag measures a height/width ratio of ½, and was adopted on 27th April 1990, one year before the country's independence from the USSR in 1991. It has the particularity of being able to look at itself on both sides.

The blue colour embodies the sky and freedom, yellow evokes the wheat fields, prosperity and equality and the color red represents the blood of the brotherhood. This interpretation was certainly inspired by that of the French flag. The central coat of arms represents an eagle holding a shield with the head of an auroch.
