The Saint-Lucian flag consists of a turquoise blue background and a yellow triangle superimposed on a white and black triangle. It is one of the symbols of Saint Lucia, an island state in the West Indies. Sainte Lucia located in the Lesser Antilles is part of the Windward Islands which is located in the east like Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis or Guadeloupe, Martinique or Mosquito Island.

Officially adopted in 1979, this Caribbean flag was invented by a local artist named Dunstan St. Omer. It is given many different meanings.

The turquoise blue color is the color of the sky in the Tropics as well as that of the Caribbean Sea of a beautiful translucent light blue! It is also the color of fidelity.

The two yellow and black triangles intertwined are two insignia that recall the two peaks of Saint Lucia and her volcanic origins. These two volcanic needles of Qualibou volcano (Gros Piton and Petit Piton) are represented as gushing from the waves on the flag! These are signs of the hope and deep aspirations of the people of Saint Lucia. The black represents the African influence while the yellow represents the European influence. We can see that the artist wanted the black to predominate over the yellow color by positioning it above.
