South Dakota State - Mount Rushmore State

The city's capital is Pierre; named after the famous Canadian explorer Pierre de la Vérandrye who built Fort Saint-Pierre in 1731. It should be noted that before South Dakota had its official flag, the state had three previous flags. The current flag is a rectangular flag that was adopted on November 9, 1992. The Us flag has an azure blue background and in the center of the flag is the seal; a sun surrounded by small gold triangles that represent sunrays. Inside the sun we find a drawing of the city of South Dakota with its official motto written at the top "Under God the people rule" and "state of south Dakota great 1889 seal". Surrounding the sun we find in gold letters the name of the state and its nickname "The Mount Rushmore State".
